How to Apply for the Civil Service Exam 2027: Requirements, Fee and Steps
Filing for the 14 March 2027 CSE-PPT is open. Here are the requirements, the ₱500 fee, the steps, and the dates you can't afford to miss.
To apply for the March 2027 Civil Service Exam, file CS Form No. 100 at the CSC Regional or Field Office where you want to take the exam, with four identical ID photos, one accepted ID and its photocopy, and the ₱500 fee. Filing opened on 2 November 2026 and continues only until slots run out, so filing early is the safest move.
The exam itself is a pen-and-paper test (CSE-PPT) on Sunday, 14 March 2027. It covers both the Professional and Sub-professional levels. A second 2027 exam is set for 8 August 2027, with filing from 10 May 2027.
Who can apply
You can file if you meet all of these CSC qualifications:
- You are a Filipino citizen. Dual citizens under R.A. 9225 may apply with supporting documents.
- You are at least 18 years old on the date you file.
- You are of good moral character and have no final conviction for an offense such as dishonesty or examination irregularity.
- You were not dishonorably discharged from the military or dismissed for cause from a civilian government post.
- You have not passed the same level before.
- You did not take the same level between 14 December 2026 and 13 March 2027. This is the 3-month rule.
Requirements to bring
Prepare these before you go, because an incomplete set can cost you a trip and, while you wait, a slot:
- CS Form No. 100, Revised 2023, fully filled out. Get it from csc.gov.ph or any CSC office. Legal-size bond paper is fine.
- Four identical colored passport-size photos (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm), white background, taken within the last 3 months, shoulders up, both ears showing, with a hand-held name tag showing your handwritten signature over your printed full name.
- The original and a photocopy of one accepted ID, such as a PhilID or ePhilID, passport, driver's license, UMID, PRC ID, or postal ID.
- If your ID has no date of birth, the original and a photocopy of your PSA or Local Civil Registry birth certificate.
- The ₱500 examination fee.
Step by step
1. Confirm you qualify, especially the 3-month rule if you took an exam recently.
2. Contact the CSC office where you want to take the exam, by phone or email. Each office sets its own filing mode (walk-in, appointment, or online) and can tell you how many slots remain. The filing mode varies by office, so this call matters.
3. File your application and pay the fee. Keep your Application Receipt and Official Receipt, since you will write your Examinee Number on them on exam day.
4. About two weeks before the exam, check the Online Notice of School Assignment (ONSA) on csc.gov.ph for your venue. If you still don't know your venue a week before the exam, call your CSC office.
5. After the exam, check the List of Passers on csc.gov.ph and get your rating through OCSERGS using your Examinee Number.
Dates to put on your calendar
These dates come from CSC Examination Announcement No. 06, s. 2026. Result dates are targets and can move.
- 2 November 2026: filing started, and it continues until slots are filled or CSC says otherwise.
- 9 December 2026: deadline for written requests to transfer your testing center.
- 14 March 2027: exam day. Gates close at exactly 7:45 a.m., and late examinees are not admitted.
- On or before 11 May 2027: target release of results.
Before you file
Popular testing centers in NCR and big cities can fill up well before exam day, so treat filing as your first task rather than your last. Then give yourself a realistic review window. A simple 6 to 8 week plan works for most examinees: basics and math first, then verbal and analytical, then general information, and full timed mock exams in the last two weeks.
CSC does not run review classes and has not accredited any review center, so any reviewer, including ours, is independent practice material. Always confirm requirements with your CSC office before you go.
