To apply for the LET, create an account on PRC's LERIS portal (online.prc.gov.ph), fill in your details, upload a recent ID photo, choose your level and testing center, book an appointment, and pay the ₱900 fee. First-timers must then bring their original documents to the PRC Regional Office on their appointment date.

The LET is usually held twice a year, in March and September. As of our last check, PRC had not published its 2027 calendar. It released the 2026 calendar on November 17, 2025, so check prc.gov.ph often in November and December.

Requirements for first-timers

Prepare these before you book:

  • PSA Birth Certificate.
  • PSA Marriage Certificate, for married female applicants.
  • Transcript of Records with a scanned picture and the remark "For Board Examination Purposes". Request this from your school early.
  • A valid email, mobile number, ID photo in .jpg format, and a valid government ID for your LERIS account.
  • Other documents the Board may require, such as a CHED Certificate of Equivalency for degrees that need it.

Who can take the LET

Beyond being at least 18, in good health, and of good moral character, your degree decides your level:

  • Elementary: graduates of BEEd or BSEEd, BECEd or BSECEd, BSNEd, or an equivalent degree.
  • Secondary: graduates of BSEd or an equivalent with a major and minor.
  • Non-education graduates: a bachelor's degree in arts and sciences with at least 18 units in Professional Education qualifies you for the Secondary level.

Step by step on LERIS

1. Check the PRC schedule and note the filing period. PRC usually sets this 3 to 4 months before the exam.

2. Create or log in to your LERIS account and verify your email with the OTP.

3. Enter your personal details, school, course, and graduation date, then upload your ID photo.

4. Choose the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers, your level and specialization, your testing center, and your PRC Regional Office.

5. Book your appointment and pay the ₱900 fee using the LERIS payment options. Keep your confirmation.

6. Bring your original documents on your appointment date. PRC then issues your Notice of Admission.

7. A few days before the exam, check your room and school assignment on the PRC website or official Facebook page.

How passing works

You need a weighted general average of at least 75%, with no rating below 50% in any part. That second rule catches people out: a high average still fails if one part drops under 50%, so don't skip your weakest subject.

The weights differ by level. For Elementary, General Education is 40% and Professional Education is 60%. For Secondary, General Education is 20%, Professional Education is 40%, and Specialization is 40%.

A 10 to 12 week plan works well. Spend about 40% of your time on Professional Education, 30% on General Education, and 30% on Specialization if you have one, and save the last 2 weeks for mock exams.
